LoR: Prisoners of Peridor – A rag-tag team of heroes thrown together after slavers stole them from their homes from across the world. Destined to become fodder in the games at Delos, they escaped and now wander the lands of Peridor in an attempt to survive.

The group have decided to look for gear to kit themselves out before overthrowing the slavers of Delos. Their plan has taken them south in Peridor to the Docks of Nestor. Hearing rumours, from a man who was washed up on shore, of the Red Army amassing by the fire mountain out on the Fire Island. He begged them to rescue his sister Aria. Accepting his quest, they hired a boat and sailed to the island.

Battling a host of Goblins and Orcs they have ventured deep into the dungeons of Fire Mountain. They have managed to rescue Aria and meet Sarizor who seeks to kill the leader of the Red Army. Joining forces they ventured through the dungeons.

After marvelling at the minerals glowing in the black rock formations, and avoiding some suspicious rooms believed to be traps, our heroes, came across an underground river. A raft lay nearby as did a rickety bridge. Splitting up (As that is always a great idea!) Popi and Squizz took the bridge while, Aria, Peanut and Razzze took the raft. Ortox decided to fly across.

Halfway across the raft became animated and Aria, Peanut and Razzze all fell into the river! But it wasn’t long until Popi and Squizz joined them as the bridge collapsed.

They saw a large crocodile racing across the river towards them!

Peanut and Razzze made it to shore, but Aria struggled with the crocodile gaining on her!

Popi managed to climb back onto the bridge and scurry back to shore while Ortox, rescued Squizz flying her to safety.

With a precision toss of her dagger, Popi landed an Olympian throw! straight through the Crocodile’s eye, it thrashed and disappeared beneath the surface not to be seen again!

Dripping wet, they decided to come up with another plan to get across…

The away team could hear something in the smoke of the wreckage, hunting for survivors. Captain Fang, ordered the team to look for a shelter of safety. As they did, they came across an injured Aurian civilian, helping him, he explained that they were trapped on the Moon of Levorak, an illegal hunting ground. To make matters worse, Fangs Energy Sword and Ppokiss’s Rifle kept powering down.

Stealthily they made their way through the wreckage until they found shelter and climbed up an exhaust pipe into a section of the destroyed ship.

I made a colossal error in the rules here for the Stealth Scene. I thought I had written rules for Stealth Scene Obstacles. But could not find the in the CORE Book. Only afterwards, when I was looking through the books to see why I could not find them, did I notice that they were in the GM’s Guide! … I need to make a note to update the prototype book to include a page reference to the obstacle chart in the CORE Rules!

Something started to scrape on the outer hull, but it appeared they were safe… for now.

Meanwhile… In the Mountains

Dr Peridot and her camping trip which had gone drastically wrong, balanced on eth edge of a cliff. Peridot managed to clamber into the pilot’s seat and strap in. Taking stock, Vola-Zi was tangled in wires, her wings broken, and she was delirious with pain. While Briginia was still in her seat, terrified.

Suddenly the ship began to slip over the edge of the cliff… Peridot decided she would tap into her Geomancy Weaver Powers and try to halt the ship from sliding over the edge…

It took all her effort to do so, but she managed to lodge the ship safely. Then, a shadow fell over the ship…

Meanwhile… On board the Polarian Alliance Starbase

Acting Captain Loev Covis awoke to find himself beneath the wreckage of beams, and huge holes in the hull, luckily emergency power had created a barrier shield.

Wandering through the silent halls of the starbase, he eventually came across the central promenade, a multi-level circular void. Now wrecked with levels cascaded down upon each other, railing twisted. A voice in the dark called out for help.

In an attempt to reach the voice Loev, made his way to where the level had collapsed to the lower level, he could see a pile of bodies at the end of the steep ramp. Wreckage everywhere, Climbing down the railings he made his way towards the lower level. The railing gave way and he found himself hanging. He spotted a terminal against the platform just below him and dropped down onto it. Continuing his climb, the railing broke apart and he swang his way down towards the bottom.

Exhausted and a little shaken, He decided to take a rest, when he noticed the Intrepid outside! Calling upon the power of the Galactic Light, he used morse-code to signal it. Luckily someone was looking for a sign … the Intrepid made its way towards him…

G.A.U – Gods Amongst Us: The heroes wake up in a Government Augmentation Unit Facility which is part of the GAU Corporation. Armed gunmen attempting to kill them at every turn! They have no memory of who they were, only knowing who they are, but who will they become?

Most the session was taken up by updating the system and explaining layout of the VTT

Standing before Officer Thunderbolt, the police officers asked ‘Can I see your identification?’

Confused the group had no idea what he was talking about. The officer lifted up his shirt to reveal his forearm and on it a barcode.

He explained that he received a call about the sighting of a large woman and loud music, and asked if they knew anything about it. They looked and lied, that they knew nothing.

Calling in that the party had no identification, they waited with him as they waited for the arrival of the Chrome Defender, leader of Guardians of Justice.

Once the Chrome Defender arrived, he questioned them about where they come from. Sirona said they woke in a lab, belonging to Gau.

The Chrome Defender explained that it was illegal to be in the city without a bar code, but he sympathised with their situation and offered them to come to the headquarters of the Guardians of Justice and get processed so they could live in the city legally and make a home for themselves.

Mac, Indira and Kratos were not sure about the offer, feeling very hesitant. Chrome Defender reminded them they could not be allowed to wander the streets and would be arrested.

Laser Lady turned, with a look of excitement in her eyes, saying that this was an opportunity, they could become a group and have a home. The Chrome Defender said it was possible, but they would have to live in the city without any conviction to be accepted as part of the Guardians of Justice.

They all agreed that they could do with a rest and to get some food so agreed to follow him to Rodden Island, where the Guardian’s base stood.

There the party had some Downtime spending CDP and recovered.

Eventually, the team was approached by Chrome Defender and Mesmira and asked what they wished to do. Laser Lady said she would love to join the Guardians of Justice but the majority said they would like to carve out their own life.

The party was sent to Cape Town, Laser Lady was informed that the Guardians will be in touch while her application was being considered.

As part of this year, Challenge CORE series the GMD VIP Members requested a series of games from their favourite settings.
The latest of these is Lord of the Rings. So following on from a Middle Earth adventure I ran for them a few years back the party returned as members of the Company of Culthain a band of rangers who hunt the enemy across the North Western Middle Earth.

This is a Campaign Playtest series with the following cast:

Travelling through the dead woods of the Yfelwood, on the southern region of the Trollshaws. The Company finally found Balsamir, her Bloodwights and her possessed personal guard.

Armed with the star of Algalaine, Ranger held it up high and the star’s light flared, striping the enemy of their immunities!

Balsamir, ordered her champions to destroy the company and bring her the star.

A mighty battle was fought between Heroes and Villain level characters! Clever use of Perks kept the Power-users dice pools low preventing them from incinerating the group with their fire and necromantic magic! Only minor damage was taken.

Until only one last villain was left, a Possessed Beorning.

Every effort was made to try and bring the ferocious warrior back from possession!

Eventually knocking him out and binding him was their only effort. Hoping to one day find a cure.

Balsamir and her host were eventually destroyed, thanks to the star of Algalaine and the threat to Tirthon finally defeated.

Our Lord of the Rings conversion test finally came to an end…

With a host at their gates, the defenders of the Tirthon took to the snowy field to hold them off!

This whole session was toplay test 1 of the three ways to do warfare, and the players had opted for the Wargames option. So the Forces were laid out and the rules explained.

At first, it appeared that the enemy forces would reach the walls unhindered, but the Riders of Tirthoin led by Ranger, charged from the fortress accompanied by several units of footsoldiers in a desperate attempt to open a way through for the party to head out and cut the head of the snake!

The battle went well, and it was exciting. The units rules played out pretty well, and some minor notes were taken for improvement. The players were victorious and only minor damage taken, luckily!

The enemy rounded one final time, scattered across the land defenders started to hunt them down…

Corvus led the Company of Culthain to seek out the enemy and destroy it once and for all! Into the Yfelwood they went…

The solar flares began and the show was a spectacular sight to behold. For days the party enjoyed some downtime and spent some CDP and recovered.

Loev Covis was invited to a dinner with the other Polarian Captains aboard the Polarian Alliance Starbase, While the Intrepid was undergoing some much-needed repairs. Engaging in talks about the Intrepids Non-Polarian captain, Loev found himself defending his captain’s integrity against the strong views of the Polarians Captains.

Meanwhile, aboard the Aurian Sunrise, the away team enjoyed festivities with their Felor Host. Popkiss noticed a member of the party taking great interest in the Captain, communicating with Ensign Harris on the Intrepid, together they identified the individual as a wanted criminal known as Captain Av’ril for illegal salvage. She sent a robot called KR-416 to invite the captain to join her for a drink. Captain Fang, obliged and she explained that she needed his help to leave the system. She needed a security pass to leave the system and said it was a matter of great urgency. When Fang pressed to the topic of the matter, Av’ril became evasive and invited him to her quarters.

Leaving the Party to join her in her quarters, she explained, asking if had ever heard of Dark Tech. Fang had not. She continued to explain that she had found a salvage in uncharted space in the system, part of a trail she is following. Within the salvage, she located the Dark Tech which is extremely evil and dangerous. Fang tried to reason with her, saying that the Polarian Alliance will help, she just needs to turn herself in and the tech over to them.

Av’ril refused to cooperate, stating that the Polarians will try to use the tech, and it will then corrupt everything. She believes that the tech came from the dead worlds beyond the frontier. Her expert is slowly analyzing it and is hopeful to find a way to destroy it. Nothing they have tried has worked so far.

Meanwhile, Dr Peridot decided to take the cadets on a camping trip to a nearby forest moon. Taking her shuttle she headed out with the cadets.

The solar flares continued and were magnificent to behold as they started to reach their climax. But as everyone watched on, a rogue meteor appeared and was struck by one of the flares and exploded sending a shock wave and meteor storm across the system.

The shower destroyed the fleet of civilian ships watching the show, tearing apart the large Aurian Sunrise which plummeted down onto the nearby forest moon. Everyone on board tried to strap in and prevent themselves from being sucked out into space, but all went dark as they crashed onto the moon.

Meanwhile, the shower struck the shuttle which also crashed onto the moon. While the shower tore apart the starbase as the captains raced back to their ships in an attempt for an emergency evac.

Fang, Popkiss, Bruuke and Kroom all woke in the wreckage, slightly injured. Smoke hung everywhere and after some time they managed to make it out of the wreckage and locate each other. They did a quick survey of their surroundings seeing a shuttle crash into a nearby mountain range decided to make it towards the ship. But first, they wanted to locate survivors.

Peridot found that the shuttle hung dangerously on the edge of a cliff hundreds of meters above the rocky floor.

But they were not alone, the forest moon, was an illegal genetic experimental hunting ground for Aurian hunters…

Alicia managed to pick up an answer from a strange anomaly up ahead, it appear to be a signal from herself and the intrepid. responding to her distress call!

The communications were intermittent due to the anomaly storm from which the ‘Other Intrepid’ was responding. Alicia explained that the ship was without power and had no time for the drives to recharge before all life support has run out.

Meanwhile, Popkiss picked up a signal on the edge of his sensors, it appear to be a large ship. The signal kept disappearing.

Lt Peridot reported that the replication of the antidote was still processing, delayed by the power shutdown, but the ship’s power will be depleted before the antidote will be complete.

The ‘Other Intrepid’ from the anomaly said they were working on a way to reflect energy through the anomaly but they had no way to direct it.

Captain Fang, ordered that the crew manufacture drones with reflective panels so they can be sent out and reflect the energy to the Drive Recharge receptors.

Popkiss. picked up the signal and with Bruuks’ help, managed to scan the vessel. It appeared to be a Polarian Oblivian. The largest class of starship to exist, only a few were made. However, its spec showed an amalgamation of different tech.

Jag reported that the Drones were ready to launch. At this point suddenly the large 4km Oblivion scanned them and sent a message over their comms. ‘Biological forms, we seek the Central Overseeing Binary Assigned Logic Terminal. Slow your vessel and prepare to be eradicated

With no power to raise shields or arm weapons, Captain orders all remaining power to the engine and started to make their approach towards the anomaly.

The Slow moving Oblivian began to speed towards them in a race against time before the colossal vessel was within firing range!

The drones were launched, The ‘Other Intrepid, managed to construct a reflective generator and started to transmit the energy through the anomaly. With clever drone control, the crew started to recharge the Intrepids Engines. With seconds to go, The captain ordered a jump out of the system.

The remaining two days, saw the crew receiving the cure for the infection, and the bodies of the space spiders were incinerated along with any who did not survive.

The Captain gave orders for the crew to rotate light duties and they spent the time developing their characters.

News reached them of evolving civil war within La-Zar spae the newly appointed President and her family were all assassinated. Also, a La-Zar warship destroyed a Felor Civilian transport attempting to leave the war zone. The Felor have responded by amassing their armada.

As they approached Aurian space to collect the crew and receive some repairs. Bruuk was contacted by her cousin who invited her to view a spectacular anomaly that only happens once a century. The Captain was also invited with 2 guests of choice and 1 security guard.

The Captain chose Jag and Kroom as guests and Popkiss as security detail.

A shuttle arrived and collected the guests on arrival into the system. They were taken to the party ship where thousands were gathering to enjoy the spectacle of the solar flares.

Amazed by the hover tech within the Aurian vessel, they were escorted to a VIP suite to watch the show…

Dispatching the remaining Space Spiders, the crew decided to head to the docking bay to check up on the makeshift mass medical ward.

En route through the quiet corridors of the ship, now with the lights on thanks to Jag and his assistants. The crew led by Acting Commander Covis came across Tokka who was panicking and spouting something about Medical Bay, everyone dead!

The team decided to head to Medical Bay to investigate. When they came across what appeared to be Ensign Alicia shambling through the halls in a blood-stained medical gown trailing blood behind her. Eventually, they caught up and rounding the corner was face to face with her laser pistol and she looked scared and wild. Talking her down, she explained that she woke up to see the crew being attacked by crazed crew members, she dispatched them with her pistol. Noticing Tika alone on a bed, she dragged her to safety and was returning to see if there was anyone else to help.

They decided that they best retrieve Tika and keep her with the group. Once she was retrieved, they proceeded to Medical Bay, everyone was dead, so they took the time to clear the bay and take some time to rest while Peridot recovered some medical gear.

Act. Com. Covis decided to head to the bridge so they could monitor the ship’s condition from there. Once on the bridge, the power was on but with only enough power for about an hour. The drive desperately needed to be recharged from a nearby star.

Everyone manned a station and started to run a diagnostic. A quarter of the crew was unaccounted for, the majority was held up in the docking bay. No power to shields or weapons. just essentials. Sensors flicking off and on. After some extensive searching, they could not ascertain where they were. There were no stars!

Alicia started to send out a distress signal. When Covis picked up something moving on the edge of their sensors, something big…

On their way to the Engineering, PEridot bumps into her sister Jadisin, who is terrified of what is happening. Joining the party, they continue to Engineering.

Captain Fang instructs the Jag to get the Power back online and assigns help. The rest are instructed to clear a path and protect them!

Charging into Engineering they face 3 Space Spiders and 10 Infected!

WE expected this to be a long drawn-out battle, but after testing the new damage, Momentum & Stun rules the battle passed extremely quickly!

Jag managed to get the power online while the Space Spiders, tried to bite him, but the party managed to keep them at bay along with the infected crew.

Popkiss heads down to Mechanics Bay to look for survivors. On arrival, he found more crew infected and with them 6′ spiderlike aliens and was forced to run away!

The Captain ordered the transporter bay to make a risky teleportation to save them from the horde chasing them.

Jag then closed off the mechanics bay.

As the group gathered their senses the power throughout the ship is all turned off by the spidelike aliens…

The crew made their way together and then started to head to the Engineering to try and take back control of the ship!
