As part of this years, Challenge CORE series the GMD VIP Members requested a series of games from their favorite settings.
The latest of these is Lord of the Rings. So following on from a Middle Earth adventure I ran for them a few years back the part return as members of the Company of Culthain a band of rangers who hunt the enemy across the North Western Middle Earth.
This is a Campaign Playtest series with the following cast:
Ranged (Actor: Silvereagle)
Who longs to be reunited with her lover Nina another member of the company who set off with Culthain ahead of the group.

Trackers, archer, and skilled warrior
Related to Culthain the head of the company.
Agitator (Actor: Rich)
Wilderness Survivalist and Falconer
foul-tempered loner, the lost bastard son of Lord Mirendel.
Scrapper (Actor: Eusi)
Dual axe-wielding warrior.
Who lost his family to Morg the Dwarf Killer.
Scrapper (Actor: Waracolyte)
Skilled Herbalist, and warrior.
Good friends of Lofar who also is a tracker for the company, but has traveled ahead of the party with Culthaines band.
Defender (Actor: Woadan)
A mighty great axe weilding warrior.
Cousin of Eanfled Amrodan
Deep in the Yfelwoods of Rhudaur as his forces retreat after the defeat at the battle of the Tirthon, Ethcali commands Morg to gather his Orcs, ready for a second attack, now that the dark mistress has awakened with a new host at her command. Sending Vargur and a host of Orcs to track down the remaining members of the Company of Culthain as they head to seek a way to destroy them. Vargur and his Warg scouts race out of the Yfelwoods and through the snow-covered forests of Rhudaur, and hunt for their Prey.
Note about new rules: Cut ScenesHere I used the all new Cut Scene rules that will be available in the AAE Guide later this year! Although Vargur, got a Momentum Point to use in a scene that is on its way, the party all recieved a Cut Cene Bonus Dice to use in their Next roll, which will help them overcome the colde journey ahead.
The Company of Culthain wove their way through skeletal trees covered in snow following Karell across ice-covered, rocks. Some struggled and slipped as they passed over the difficult terrain of their journey. For the whole day and long into the evening they traveled beneath the forest of the Trollshaws, freezing in the evening Lothar attempts to build a campfire, to thaw his fingers but Ronin commanded otherwise, stating it is unwise as who knows what is lurking in the dark of the forest of Rhudaur.
As they discussed the loss of so many huddled together shivering, heavy footfalls caught their attention. Two trolls lumbered through the forest towards them but they were prepared. Dispatching the trolls with ease (Mainly because I did not realise I forgot to set up the stat blocks in Foundry! School-boy error! I did not realise until after the battle ended a little too easily and I checked). Following the Trolls footsteps that al;ready started to disappear in the falling snow, they managed to find their cave.
Together they struggle the large boulder free from the entrance, poised ready in case there were more. But luck would have it, no more were inside. Braving the stench they decided to camp in the warmth of the cave that night instead.
The next day they arrived at the River Bruenin, Ronin was not too keen to cross and refused to enter the waters of death! Only when Ulf agreed to carry him across on his back could they get Ronin to cross the river with them.
As they got half-way across they were greeted with an elvish border patrol who refused to let them pass. Several warning shots stopped them from pushing their luck. After some tense diplomatic moments, eventually Galifae was convinced they were not Angmar spies and agreed to escort them to Rivendell were Elrond will decide their fate…
