Following the King of the Shae-Du Mūn to the battlements, the party prepared to defend the Tower of the King deep within the ruined city of Aeon Dul, hopefully, long enough for an opening to present itself …
A Note about Warfare Scenes…I tested the Warfare Actions Phase during this game session and although the new Warfare rules still needed some work. The Action Phase proved to work nicely. I will need to really test the actual warfare scene to its fullest!
Horns sound across the battlements of the tower as the Beastman army stormed the gates and walls, consisting of Saurataurs and Kriotaurs. The heroes battled from the West Wall as the Sarataurs used ladders to get over the wall… Sylvarius boldly stood on the walls shooting down at the ladder bearers keeping many at bay, but he alone could not stop the assault, The Lizardmen swarmed over the wall and the clash of bronzed weapons echoed. Danae kept the troops fighting as one, commanding them from amidst the battle, as Snarq used his great strength to push the ladders full of troops back down to the city floor below. Soaring over the battle and swooping down to attack the ladder climbers Mithras in his godly might was devastating. All are protected by the prayers of Amara who recited chants and passages from tales past of Lysamache the first Shae-Du Darian, who gave her life to seal the forces of Tartarus in a prison of light.
Suffering minor wounds and exhaustion, the battle is far from over. Danae notices that the East Wall is suffering and decide to head to the location with the party to give aid.
Clever use of a Combat Scene in the middle of the Warfare scene.I decided to spice things up with a planned encounter here. During the time the party moved from one location to another during a Warfare scene I decided it would take them past one of the gates. The gates would burst open and in would pour some troops and a Gigantasaurus and the players would be forced to fight the encounter.
As the party made their way to the East Wall, they passed one of the gates, and just as they approached the games burst open, in poured a host of beastmen engaged by the defenders of the gate. But the ground shook as a huge Gigantasaurus burst through, roaring across the courtyard… The party did not wait and flew into action.
After an intense battle, the beast was slain, and the gate sealed…
But the battle war was not over…
Our 2-hour game session then ended unit next time!
