1.2.2(a) Roles & Templates

Key

Each role has a tactical position to play in different situations.

  • Defender: Specialises in defending their companions and the ability to withstand damage.
  • Enhancer: Provides support to the party, in the way of bonus dice, healing and other effects.
  • Ranged: A damage dealer who deals damage at a range where they are safer from retaliation.
  • Scrapper: Prefers to get up close and personal to deal damage in hand to hand. Not as tough against damage as a defender but knows how to put a foe to ground.
  • Agitator: Distracts the enemy, providing penalties and sowing confusion among their ranks.
  • Tactician: Master at planning and controlling the flow of a situation giving bonus to Momentum and Initiative order, countering opponents actions etc.

(b) Defender

Role Description

Role Templates:

Template 1: Guardian

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in DEF, Gain [+1DT] in PHY & SOC

Skills: Taunt [+2], Endurance [+1], Shield[+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Defender – When Defenders activate this perk they go into a bracing stance that grants them Gain [+1MOD] DMG Resistance Bonus Dice for the duration of the Perk.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Take the Pain  – Gain [+1 MOD] Bonus when resisting Physical Damage for duration of Perk.

Taunter – Taunt now effects a number of targets = to SOC lvl

Flesh Wound –  Roll DMG RES twice at and choose the best result on the next DMG RES roll.

Starting Gear: Bronzed Cuirass, Greeves, Bracers, Helm, Ptergus (Skirt of Leather strips) Aspis (Shield), Xyphos (Sword) or Dory (Spear), Chiton (Short Tunic), Chlamys (Cloak), Sandles,  5+d4 Drachmae

Template 2: Protector

Stats: [+2DT] in FOC, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & MND

Skills: Either Armour, Protective Aura, Force Field, Absorption OR Resist Knockback,  [+2] , Spell of Choice [+1], Dodge [+1], Arcane Staff [+1]

Role Perk: Defender – When Defenders activate this perk they go into a bracing stance that grants them Gain [+1MOD] DMG Resistance Bonus Dice for the duration of the Perk.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Celestial Shield – While this Perk is active all within MND LVL x 5′ range gain your FOC LVL as a +MOD to DEF for the duration of the PERK.

Protective Will – May transfer [-1MOD] FOC (Up to FOC LVL) for [+1MOD] Damage Resist Bonus Dice for the duration of the perk.

Tap into the Weave – May cast any spell from the spell list at MND for the duration of the Perk.

Starting Gear: Staff, Chiton (Tunic) / Females may choose a Peplos (Dress), Himation (Heavy Cloak/Wrap/Shawl),

Template 3: Berserker

Stats: [+2DT] in PHY, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & COM

Skills: Endurance [+2], Parry[+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1], Taunt [+1]

Role Perk: Defender – When Defenders activate this perk they go into a bracing stance that grants them Gain [+1MOD] DMG Resistance Bonus Dice for the duration of the Perk.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Battle Rage  – Character may Gain [+1] DMG for each [-1MOD] DEF (Up to DEF LVL) fro duration of PERK.

Adrenaline Surge  – Character gains a temp PHY LVL in HP for DUR of PERK.

Take the Pain – Gain [+1 MOD] Bonus when resisting Physical Damage for duration of Perk.

Starting Gear: Woad Protection +2 DMG RES, Spear/Great Axe/Maul/ 2 x 1-handed weapon of choice, Perizoma (Loin cloth), 5+d6 Drachmae

(c) Enhancer

Role Description

Role Templates:

Template 1: Healer

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in MND, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & FOC

Skills: Heal [+2], Calm [+1], Dodge [+1] , Healing Word spell [+1]

Role Perk: Enhancer – When activated the Enhancer can give all allies within SOC LVL x 5′ a [+1MOD] to all Actions for the duration as long as the Enhancer stays within distance. This does not include DMG RES or DMG Rolls.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Tap into the Weave: May cast spells for the duration of the Perk

Battle Healer  – Doubles the effect of Heal Skill, resulting in 2WP per Success.
Therapist – Remove one Mental Effect from ally.

Starting Gear: Dory (Spear) or Staff or Small weapon [Dagger, club] or Sling, Chiton (Tunic) / Females may choose a Peplos (Long Dress), Himation (Heavy Cloak/Wrap/Shawl), Satchel, Sandles, 5+d10 Drachmae

Template 2: Champion

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in DEF, Gain [+1DT] in MND & SOC

Skills: Dodge [+2], Calm [+1], Heal [+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Enhancer – When activated the Enhancer can give all allies within SOC LVL x 5′ a [+1MOD] to all Actions for the duration as long as the Enhancer stays within distance. This does not include DMG RES or DMG Rolls.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Enhance DEF – Adjacent Allies gain [+1] DEF for duration of PERK

Press the Advantage – For each [-1MOD] DEF (Up to DEF LVL) gain [+1] Momentum, Penalty lasts for PERK Duration.

Inspire by Example – Any Ally within SOC x5′ range that performs the same action as you, while this PERK is active gains [+1 MOD].

Starting Gear: Soft Leather, Spear or Staff or Small weapon [Short Sword, Dagger, club].

Template 3: Bard

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in SOC, Gain [+1DT] in MND & AGI

Skills: Inspire [+2], Dodge [+1], Distract[+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Enhancer – When activated the Enhancer can give all allies within SOC LVL x 5′ a [+1MOD] to all Actions for the duration as long as the Enhancer stays within distance. This does not include DMG RES or DMG Rolls.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Enhance COM  – Adjacent Allies gain [+1] COM for duration of PERK

A Tale of Hero’s – A number of allies = your SOC lvl receive [+1MOD] SOC.

Look at me! – All eyes of the opponents are on you giving all Allies [+1] STL to their next STL roll.

Starting Gear: Soft Leather, Spear or Staff or Small weapon [Short Sword, Dagger, club].

(d) Ranged

Role Description

Role Templates:

Template 1: Marksman

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in PER, Gain [+1DT] in COM & AGI

Skills: Bow [+2], Spot [+1], Dodge [+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Ranged – When activated, Ranged characters become more aggressive with their attacks and gain [+1] DMG for duration.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Pin Point Accuracy – Gain [+1MOD] per LVL of PER to DMG roll for next Ranged Weapon DMG Roll.

Perfect Shot –  Ignore Range Penalties on next Ranged shot.

Aim – Gain [+1 MOD ]COM LVL  to next Ranged attack.

Starting Gear: Toxon (Bow), Pharetrs (Quiver) of 20 Bélos (Arrows), Chiton (Tunic) / Females may choose a Peplos (Long Dress), Sandles, 5+d8 Drachmae

Template 2: Hunter

Stats: [+2DT] in STL, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & AGI

Skills: Bow[+2] , Track [+1], Dodge [+1], Sneak [+1]

Role Perk: Ranged – When activated, Ranged characters become more aggressive with their attacks and gain [+1] DMG for duration.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Surprised Shot  – Gain [+1MOD] STL LVL to next ranged attack

Stunning Blow – If attack causes a Wound, the target also take an additional STR LVL in Stun Points too.

Co-ordinate  – When an adjacent ally next attacks an adjacent enemy, you gain a bonus attack against the same targets Def roll.

Starting Gear: Bow, Quiver of Arrows,  Spear.

Template 3: Blaster

Stats: [+2DT] in FOC, Gain [+1DT] in MND & AGI

Skills: Either Mental Blast or Celestial Blast [+2], Spell of Choice[+1] , Spell Lore [+1], Wand Use[+1]

Role Perk: Ranged – When activated, Ranged characters become more aggressive with their attacks and gain [+1] DMG for duration.

Bonus Perk: Choose one

Spell Fury – On the next ranged Celestial Power attack gain [+1] per FOC level
Double Blast  – Roll DMG twice on the next successful ranged celestial power attack.

Tap into the Weave: May cast spells for the duration of the Perk

Starting Gear: Wand, Spell Book.

(e) Scrapper

Role Description

Role Templates:

Template 1: Hoplite

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in COM, Gain [+1DT] in STR & DEF

Skills: Weapon of Choice [+2], Stamina [+1], Shield[+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Scrappers – When this perk is activated Scrappers attacks become more intense and they gain [+1MOD] COM for the duration.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Rapid Strike – Gain an additional free attack on your next Melee attack

Shield Bash – For the duration of the PERK the Shield Strike is a Soft Action and Pushes target back 5′ per success.

Pankration – Unarmed Attacks gain +2 DMG for duration of the PERK

Starting Gear: Lino Thorax (Reinforced Linen Medium Armour), Leather Greeves & Bracers, Helm, Aspis (Shield), Xyphos (Sword) & Dory (Spear), Chiton (Short Tunic), Chlamys (Cloak), Sandles,  5+d4 Drachmae

Template 2: Assassin

Stats: [+2DT] in STL, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & COM

Skills: Sneak[+2] , Weapon of Choice [+1], Parry [+1], Distract [+1]

Role Perk: Scrappers- When this perk is activated Scrappers attacks become more intense and they gain [+1MOD] COM for the duration.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Sneak attack – On a successful sneak [from hidden] attack gains [+1MOD] STL Lvl for DMG.

Counter attack – On a successful DEF roll may make a free counter Attack roll for duration.

Dual weapon Fighting – When armed with two weapons and using this perk manoeuvre to harass the enemy, gain [+1MOD] to Attack & dmg [May not use Parry]

Starting Gear: Chiton (Tunic) / Females may choose a Peplos (Long Dress), Himation (Heavy Cloak/Wrap/Shawl), Sandles, 2 x 1-handed weapons of choice, 5+d12 Drachmae

Template 3: Battle Mage

Stats: [+2DT] in MND, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & COM

Skills: Celestial Weapon or Aura of Pain[+2], Dodge[+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1], Spell of Choice[+1]

Role Perk: Scrappers- When this perk is activated Scrappers attacks become more intense and they gain [+1MOD] COM for the duration.

Bonus Perk: Choose one

Tap into the Weave: May cast spells for the duration of the Perk

Focused – When activated the next Celestial Power is treated as a Soft Action
Onslaught – Next Melee Attack is treated as a Soft Action

Starting Gear: Weapon of choice, Hardened Leather

(f) Agitator

Role Description

Role Templates:

Template 1: Battle Bard

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in SOC, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & AGI

Skills: Distract[+2], Fast Talk[+1], Dodge[+1] , Sling [+1]

Role Perk: Agitators –  Activating the perk, an Agitator harasses Enemies within SOC LVL x 5′ for the duration of the Perk giving [-1 MOD] penalty.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Painful Sounds  – Distracting the enemy with high pitched painful sounds which prevents a target from using a Skill Bonuses for duration of the PERK.

Irritating as Hell – Distract effects targets = to SOC lvl

Counter Effect –  Targets [+MOD] Effects are removed on a successful Distraction Vs Foc

Starting Gear: Musical Instrument, Sling, Dagger

Template 2: Improviser

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in AGI, Gain [+1DT] in SOC & COM

Skills: Improvised Weapon[+2], Distract[+1], Dodge[+1] , Thrown [+1]

Role Perk: Agitators –  Activating the perk, an Agitator harasses Enemies within SOC LVL x 5′ for the duration of the Perk giving [-1 MOD] penalty.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Thrown Distraction – By throwing a handful of objects, dirt, stones, etc can distract a Radius 10′ AOE causing all to suffer [-1 MOD] to their next actions. Thrown Vs Targets FOC

Stunning Distraction – Whenever a successful Distract roll is made, while this PERK is active, the Target also suffers SOC LVL Stun per too.

Trip – All enemies that are adjacent to you suffers [-1MOD] to all their actions due to being tripped up by you.

Starting Gear: Improvised Item, Dagger Zoma (Belt) full of throwing daggers x 5, Chiton (Tunic) / Females may choose a Peplos (Long Dress), Himation (Heavy Cloak/Wrap/Shawl), Sandles, 5 + d10 Drachmae

Template 3: Wizard

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in FOC, Gain [+1DT] in COM & MND

Skills: Drain Stat, Arcane Mirror, Arcane Anchor or Entangle [+2], Distract[+1], Spot[+1] , Spell of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Agitators –  Activating the perk, an Agitator harasses Enemies within SOC LVL x 5′ for the duration of the Perk giving [-1 MOD] penalty.

Bonus Perk: Choose one

Strong Spell – Spell caster gains [+1MOD] to Spell rolls for duration
Area Distraction – Your next distraction effects all within 10′ of the Target.

Tap into the Weave: May cast spells for the duration of the Perk

Starting Gear: Hardened Leather, Shield, 1-Handed Weapon or Spear.

(g) Tactician

Role Description

Role Templates:

Template 1: Stategos

Stats: Gain [+2DT] in MND, Gain [+1] in DEF & COM

Skills: Battle Lore[+2], Endurance [+1], Dodge[+1] , Weapon of Choice [+1]

Role Perk: Tactician- When the Tactician activates this perk, they start to give strategic advice and keep their allies focused. They gain +1 Momentum in their favour per round.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Leadership – When activated can immediately roll Battle Lore skill and distribute the roll amongst allies to add to their Next Initiative Roll.

Cease the Moment – When activated choose an ally and that allies Hard Action s are all considered Soft Actions. For that turn.

Command – This perk when activated provides all allies within MND LVL x 5′ range [+2MOD] to Initiative for duration

Starting Gear: Hardened Leather, 1-Handed Weapon or Spear.

Template 2: Spymaster

Stats: [+2DT] in COM, Gain [+1DT] in FOC & MND

Skills: Espionage[+2] , Sneak [+1], Hide [+1], Investigate [+1]

Role Perk: Tactician- When the Tactician activates this perk, they start to give strategic advice and keep their allies focused. They gain +1 Momentum in their favour per round.

Bonus Perk: Choose 1 of the following

Insight – +Espionage to ally of choice to use in their next roll against a target of choice

Spy – When activated gain [+2MOD] to next investigation roll

Predictable – When activated All targets within a AOE of MND LVL x 5′, Any ally being targetted by these targetsgain a [+1 MOD] to Next DEF

Starting Gear: soft Leather, Ranged Weapon of choice.

Template 3: Archmage

Stats: [+2DT] in PHY, Gain [+1DT] in DEF & COM

Skills: Spell Lore  [+2], Wand Parry[+1] , Wand Blast [+1], Spell of choice [+1]

Role Perk: Tactician- When the Tactician activates this perk, they start to give strategic advice and keep their allies focused. They gain +1 Momentum in their favour per round.

Bonus Perk: Choose one

Counter Spell – When activated any enemies  spell cast within MND LVL x 5′, suffers [-1MOD]

Ritual Magic – When actived add your Spell Lore roll to next allies Power Use.
